Last weekend, March 12 and 13, the Arizona Novel Writers Workshop group attended the Tucson Festival of Books at the U of A in Tucson. It was a literary feast of events for both writers and readers. I particularly enjoyed “Capturing the Older Voice,” a panel presented by three popular writers, Julia Glass, Beth Cutcheon and Helen Simonson. Their current bestsellers are about older folks. I also attended “Telling Stories that Matter,” with writers Jane Hamilton and Julia Glass, a perfect match of wits and quips by two wonderfully wise and funny writers. If you didn’t get a chance to attend this event, look for it next March. There’s something for everyone—enough events to fill a 50-page schedule in the Arizona Daily Star. And the many wonderful sponsors made it all free!
