You know the magic trick it seems every magician performs—where he puts the lady in a box and she disappears—gone, poof–and then she magically reappears? That’s what I’ve felt like. Only the magician is my muse, the box is my office and I am reappearing after more than two years after completing my Alaska memoir, One Shadow on the Path and my first fiction novel Oasis Ladies: Tumbleweeds (Book 1).
Tumbleweeds did not start out as a cozy mystery, but, happily, my characters decided that was what had to happen. The Oasis Ladies have become so real to me. I’ve been blessed with marvelous friendships throughout my life and have drawn on my experiences to write about the gift of having good friends as we grow older to applaud our uniqueness, cheer us on as we pursue our dreams, celebrate the wins and help us over the bumps. My five minor characters– Watson, Bailey, Petey, Rosita and Pilot, the ladies’ dogs—keep things fun and occasionally come to the rescue.
Book 2 Flower of a Woman begins in Rome ,Italy , the beginning of unexpected changes for all the Oasis Ladies that will include heartache, surprises from the past, romance and unexpected adventures.
I’ll be posting some excerpts of Tumbleweeds here and I hope you’ll stop by and get acquainted with my friends, Stella, Lulu, Francesca, Billie and Thea, the Oasis Ladies.
